Developmentally disabled adults 18+ who are served by the regional center and choose to reside at their family home.
The individual and the family may not have the language skills to access services and programs to which they are entitled
The ethnicity or racial background may cause disparities in the purchase of services by the developmentally disabled or their families. Some cultures may have issues asking for services or feel they don’t want to be a burden to the system or simply be unaware of the services to which they are entitled. The individual or their family may have restrictions or observances that prevent them from partial or total use of services and support.
* Accommodate & respect the consumer’s language, culture, and ethnic background
* Enhance the quality of life for the consumer and -- by extension – that of their family
* Coordinate / schedule the services currently received
* Help with consumer’s diagnosis and planning for the future
* Train on how to access additional services
* Potential training of the family providing care as needed
* Help consumers identify transportation options
* Identify backup providers should the primary provider fails to d
Ask your regional center service coordinator for the CFS service. Remember: CFS does not replace any service you are already receiving, so you don't lose a service by applying for CFS. It is an additional service.
